For UK businesses

Free SEO audit

Send me your website and I will look at it the way Google does: whether your pages can be found, whether they say clearly what you offer, and what is quietly holding them back. You get my view of what to fix first, whether or not you ever hire me.

This is a free first look at how your website performs in search, carried out by me rather than by a piece of software. It is for UK businesses that suspect their site should be doing more in Google but are not ready to pay for SEO work, and want a straight answer on whether anything is worth fixing.

What I look at

I work through the site in roughly the order Google meets it, because a problem early in that chain makes everything after it irrelevant. There is no point polishing page titles if the pages are not in Google’s index at all.

  • Can Google find and keep your pages? I check for important pages missing from the index, robots.txt rules or stray noindex tags blocking them, and broken links or redirects in the way. Indexing simply means Google has stored a page and is able to show it in results.
  • Does each page make its subject obvious? Titles, headings and opening copy should say what you offer and, where it matters, where you offer it. I also look for two pages chasing the same search, which usually means neither of them ranks well.
  • Do you show up locally? If customers come to you, or you go to them, I check your Google Business Profile and whether your business name, address and phone number match on your site, your profile and the directories you are listed in.
  • How does it work on a phone? Google mainly looks at the mobile version of a site, so I check speed, layout and how easy it is to call you or send an enquiry from a small screen.
  • Who is beating you, and why? I search for the terms that matter to your business and study the pages that appear above yours, to see what they cover that you do not.

What you receive

My findings in plain English: what I found, why each issue matters for your business, and the order I would deal with them in. Where something is already in good shape I will say so, because knowing what not to spend money on is as useful as a list of faults.

It is a first look, not the full audit. A full SEO audit goes through the whole site page by page and ends with a written action plan your developer can follow. The free version picks out the problems most likely to be costing you visibility, so you can judge whether deeper work is worth paying for.

It covers organic search only. It does not review Google Ads or social media accounts, and I do not change anything on your site as part of it.

How to request it

  1. Fill in the form on this page. I need your name, email address and website; a phone number and a message are optional.
  2. Use the message to tell me what is bothering you, if anything. A drop in enquiries since a redesign, a competitor who always appears above you, or a new site that never gained traction would each send me to a different place first.
  3. I look at the site myself and get back to you with what I found.
  4. If you would like help acting on it, we can arrange a call to talk it through. If not, the findings are yours to keep, pass to your developer or work through on your own.

Who it suits

It suits UK businesses whose website is meant to bring in customers and is not doing so: a trade or clinic that relies on local searches, a professional firm whose site has gone quiet, a shop whose product pages never seem to rank. It is most useful when you want an outside opinion before deciding whether to spend money on SEO, or before briefing a developer.

It is less useful if you would rather check everything yourself. In that case my SEO audit checklist takes you through the same ground step by step, and you can still send me the site afterwards if something does not add up.

If your question is about paid ads or measurement rather than search, ask for a free Google Ads audit, a free Facebook and Instagram ads audit or a free tracking audit instead.

Who looks at your site

I do. I am Sudeshna Thapa, an SEO and digital marketing consultant based in London. I work on my own, so the person reviewing your site is the same person who would carry out any work that follows. You can read more about me and how I work before you send anything.

Frequently asked questions

Is the free SEO audit really free?

Yes. There is nothing to pay and nothing to sign. If I think paid work would help, I will tell you what it would involve and why, and the decision is entirely yours, including doing the fixes yourself.

Do I need to give you access to my website or Google Search Console?

No. The form asks for your name, email address and website, and you do not need to share any logins to request the audit. If you later want deeper work, access to Google Search Console becomes useful because it shows which searches already bring up your pages. You can add someone as a restricted user there without sharing your password.

My website does not appear on Google at all. Is the audit still worth requesting?

Yes. That kind of problem is often quicker to diagnose than poor rankings, because the cause tends to be a setting rather than the content: a WordPress site still set to discourage search engines after launch, a noindex tag carried over from a development site, or a new domain Google has not discovered yet. If you want to rule out the common causes first, my article on why a website is not showing on Google walks through them.

I am about to rebuild my website. Should I wait until the new one is live?

Ask before it goes live if you can. A rebuild is a common point for sites to lose search traffic, usually because page addresses change without redirects, so it helps to know what the current site does well before it is replaced. Mention the rebuild in your message. If the move is already under way, website migration SEO covers the switch itself.

What happens to the details I send?

They are used to deal with your request and reply to you. The privacy policy sets out what is stored, why, and your rights under UK GDPR, including asking for your details to be deleted.
