About this blog

How the articles are chosen and kept current

I write an article here when a question about SEO, paid advertising or tracking deserves a fuller answer than an email can give. Each one takes a single question, answers it near the top, explains what the answer depends on and points to the service or guide that goes further. Longer guides, checklists and calculators live in the resources library.

What the articles cover

Topics follow the work I do for UK businesses: search engine optimisation, Google Ads, Facebook and Instagram ads, websites, and measurement in Google Analytics 4 (GA4). Most articles fall into one of these kinds:

  • Diagnoses of something that has stopped working, and what to check first.
  • Decisions between two options, such as paid search or paid social.
  • Costs, set out as ranges with the factors that move them.
  • How-to pieces for jobs you can reasonably do yourself, written so you can finish them without me.

When an article is updated

Every article shows its publication date. Google and Meta change their platforms often, so when a change alters my advice I rewrite the affected part, add an updated date and note what changed. If you spot a setting or screen name that no longer matches what you see, tell me through the contact page so I can check it and correct the article.

Which article to read first

Have a question the blog has not answered?

Send it over. If other businesses share it, it becomes an article; if it is specific to you, I will answer it on a call.
