This case study covers SEO work for an IoT and robotics business in Nepal. The site had low visibility in a competitive technical niche. The work was keyword alignment, metadata refinement, on-page clean-up and link signals, and it led to No.1 rankings for IoT and robotics in Nepal, first-page rankings for two primary keywords and a placement in a Google AI Overview.
The challenge
The problem was simple to state: low visibility in a competitive technical niche. In a niche like this, the people searching use precise, specialist phrases, and other sites are already competing for them. A page that covers the right subject but does not match the words people type gives Google little reason to show it.
What I did
The approach had four parts, and each one builds on the one before it.
Keyword alignment
Keyword alignment means matching each page to the searches it should answer. In principle this is keyword mapping: one important phrase per page, so pages do not compete with each other and each one has a clear job. Two of the primary keywords for this site were “IOT final year projects” and “automation projects for students”, which shows how specific the searches in a technical niche can be.
Metadata refinement
Metadata refinement means rewriting the title tags and meta descriptions that appear in search results, so each one reflects the search its page is meant to answer. This is often the quickest way to make a page’s purpose clear to Google and to the person scanning the results.
On-page clean-up
On-page clean-up means tidying the pages themselves: the headings, the structure and the content, so each page is clearly about one thing and answers it plainly.
Link signals
Link signals are the links pointing to a page, from other pages on the same site and from other sites. They help Google judge which pages matter most. Clear internal linking is part of this, because it shows which pages a site itself treats as important.
Results
- No.1 rankings for IoT and robotics in Nepal.
- First-page rankings for the primary keywords “IOT final year projects” and “automation projects for students”.
- A placement in a Google AI Overview, the AI-generated summary that appears above the usual results for some searches.
What this shows
If you run a UK business in a specialist field, such as electronics, engineering or technical training, the lesson is that being found starts with matching your pages to the exact phrases your audience uses. None of the four steps here is unusual. What matters is doing them in order: decide which page answers which search, make the titles and descriptions say so, tidy the pages so they answer it clearly, then strengthen the links that point to them.
The same foundations apply to AI search. A page that answers a specific question plainly is easier for Google to understand and to quote. If you want your business to appear in these summaries, my AI Overviews optimisation service explains how I approach that work for UK businesses.
